Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai’s statement on Independence Day |
|
Tuesday, 17 April 2012 |
|
Tomorrow will be an important day for us all as we celebrate our country’s Independence Day. It is a day that encapsulates Zimbabwe’s painful story.
As a people, our independence was not a stroll in the park. We had to wage a brutal and protracted liberation struggle to end colonialism.
Brave sons and daughters of this land perished in that struggle. Indeed, they died so that the national aspiration for dignity and freedom could live again. Yet others were maimed and lost limb so that the whims of future generations could walk again.

Thursday, 12 April 2012 |
|
Germany will not support elections in Zimbabwe that are associated with violence and has called for the full implementation of the Global Political Agreement.
A visiting Germany parliamentarian delegation told journalists after meeting prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai, Thursday, that the Germany parliament will only support the holding of elections in an environment that is conducive for free and fair elections
“We emphasize that it is important for us not to allow elections to go ahead if associated with violence and Germany will do everything to support in any way and be rest assured that we are not trying to make decisions for Zimbabwe but we are willing support the election process,” Member of Parliament of Germany and chairman of SADC Friendship Group of German, Stefan Liebich said.
“We as Germany Parliamentarians can only support in every way possible and we can support and help relations between the two parties to return to normal. We have been involved in support programmes in other parts of the world and sometimes through the European Union and the Prime Minister said if conditions are right it would be a good idea to approach the European Union and the United Nations to provide support,” said Liebich.
During their meeting the Germany Member of Parliament said that Prime Minister Tsvangirai had emphasized on the need to allow access to foreign observers to observe the next election.

PM mourns Deputy Minister Mudzingwa |
|
Wednesday, 11 April 2012 |
|
I have learnt with shock the passing on of the Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Senator Tichaona Mudzingwa.
Dr. Mudzingwa died at the Avenues Clinic last night after a short illness. He was 69.
Zimbabwe has lost a pillar of strength, a cadre dedicated to the struggle for the independence and for the freedom of the people.
Until his death, Dr. Mudzingwa was known for his openness and for his unwavering support for reforms that will unshackle Zimbabweans from the yoke of bondage.
A distinguished liberation war hero and a member of the Military High Command from 1975 to 1980, the late Deputy Minister was an illustrious cadre who served his country with honour and distinction.
Dr. Mudzingwa, a Retired Army Colonel, joined the struggle as the first medical doctor to receive full military training and was at one time commander of the Zimbabwe Medical Corps.
The late Dr Mudzingwa was a founder member of the MDC. The story of the MDC cannot be told without mentioning Dr. Mudzingwa.
I join his family, the MDC family, the Government of Zimbabwe and indeed the nation in mourning the sad departure of this illustrious son.
Go well Dr. Tichaona Mudzingwa.
