Frequently asked questions, rules and guidelines 1. Why is the Forum moderated? It is standard practice to moderate websites of this nature. The website is moderated only for adherence to rules and guidelines set forth below. A wide range of opinions and views are 100% welcome, and hoped for. 2. Who moderates Forum? The website is moderated by the Office of the Prime Minister and its communication team. As a result of our workload and occasional technical problems, there will sometimes be delays in publishing your posts. This is regrettable but unavoidable. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience or disappointment this may cause. We do not promise to publish your comments immediately, but we will try our very best. 3. What are Forum rules? This forum welcomes all constructive debate. Pointed disagreement with government policy and its implementation is welcome, but personal attacks against individuals, from any political party, organization, or entity, are not welcome, and will not be published. Comments that are commercial in nature or that utilise copyrighted materials will not be published. Posts that include cut and pastes from other emails are discouraged. Finally, we will not publish any comments that we regard as profane, obscene, defamatory, or intended to incite violence or hatred. 4. What are Forum guidelines? The difference between a rule and a guideline is that, with rules, the moderators have no discretion in whether to publish or not. Rules are in place to protect both the users from abuse, and the integrity of the site which we hope will be an open forum where all can publish their views without hindrance or fear. Guidelines are those areas where there is some flexibility. For example, we urge you to send long correspondence directly to the Prime Minister’s postal address. This site is not for lengthy comments, as much as we would love you to share them with us. If your post is over 300 words we reserve the right not to publish. If you have a lengthy point to make that you specifically want to post on the People’s Forum, please send in several posts. This is easier for readers as well as for the Prime Minister’s staff. In general, please keep one topic per post, and respect the Forum’s different topics so they can be forwarded to and read by the relevant policymakers more easily. When possible and appropriate, please address your posts directly to the Prime Minister or one of his cabinet. This is the nature of the Prime Minister’s People’s Forum. When responding to others’ comments on the People’s Forum, please keep in mind that this forum is meant to inform the Prime Minister and his Cabinet of your ideas and concerns, not to have lengthy exchanges with other individuals which sometimes get off topic from the original post. Exchanges with others are welcome, of course, but, in general, this site is for communicating your ideas and concerns to the Prime Minister and his leadership team. Finally, when appropriate in an on-going exchange, please change the subject line, so readers viewing the Forum posts know it is a new subject. Thank you very much for participating in the People’s Forum. We will continue to listen to your concerns and ideas to improve Forum Administration, and will make adjustments accordingly, as possible. |
